Derrière on a G String Is Bringing Pure,
Chaotic Camp to Islington (And You’ll Want a Ticket)
pieces of classical music and completely flips them on their head. What you
get instead is a fast-moving series of visual sketches that are silly, sexy, and
knowingly ridiculous.
The cast is stacked with serious talent, from West End performers to a fivetime Tap World Champion, all channelling their skills into something that doesn’t
take itself too seriously. It’s polished, but never precious. Tight, but totally
unhinged in the best way.
What makes it land is how unapologetically playful it is. There’s no
dialogue to hide behind, no long-winded storytelling, just movement, timing,
and a shared understanding that sometimes the funniest thing you can do is
lean fully into the absurd.
And yes, it’s cheeky. Very cheeky.
This is a show that knows exactly what it’s doing, leaning into innuendo,
awkwardness, and those slightly inappropriate moments we all secretly enjoy.
It’s camp without trying too hard, and that’s exactly why it works.
At 75 minutes, it’s also the perfect night-out add-on. Dinner, drinks, then
this, or honestly, just come for this and let it set the tone for wherever the
night takes you after.
Because if London theatre is meant to surprise us, shake things up a bit, and
give us something to talk about on the way home, this one’s doing exactly that.
There are theatre shows you politely clap at… and then there are the ones

that leave you slightly breathless, a bit scandalised, and wondering what on
earth you’ve just witnessed. Derrière on a G String very much falls into the
