Greenwich Pride Returns
For A Big Outdoor Celebration
Greenwich is getting ready to turn up the colour
this August as Greenwich Pride returns for an
afternoon and evening of drag, DJs, drinks and
glorious queer community spirit.
Taking over the space outside Ye Olde Rose & Crown, the celebration brings
together a packed line-up of performers from across London’s drag scene.
Miss Aisles will be keeping proceedings moving as host, while DJs Les and Matt
provide the soundtrack throughout the day.
On the bill are Candy Heals, Vanity Adams, Flick, Tanya Hyde, Ash Akan,
Saffron Slayter, Moira Less, Queera Lynn, Miss Courtney, Irene Bru, Tiana Biscuit,
Monroe, Luna, Poppadom Shake and Miss Facetious. In other words, expect
plenty of big hair, bigger personalities and absolutely no shortage of sequins.
The outdoor bar opens from midday, giving everyone plenty of time to settle
in, grab a drink and claim a good spot before performances begin at 4pm. The
entertainment continues until 9pm, making it an easy afternoon out that can very
quickly become a full Greenwich night.
The event also places important LGBTQ+ and community organisations
front and centre, with akt, Macmillan Cancer Support, Mind and Terrence
Higgins Trust all featured. Their presence is a timely reminder that Pride is
about more than a party. It’s also about visibility, connection and supporting the
organisations working for our communities throughout the year.
With a lively local crowd, a suitably fabulous cast and one of Greenwich’s
best-known LGBTQ+ venues at its heart, this promises to be a proper
neighbourhood Pride celebration. No giant corporate floats required, just drag,
dancing and the chance to show some love for queer spaces south of the river.
Saturday 15 August | Outdoor bar from 12pm | Performances 4pm–9pm
