DJ of the Month
Jesus
RedSoul
This month’s tune-selector in the
spotlight is the man behind East
London club night Red Eye, as well
as a regular face at Vault139 and
The Yard Bar in Soho
Tell us a bit about your DJ journey so far
I have been DJing for almost ten years, but it has been my main job
only for the last five. I have played at Vault139 once a week for the
last two years, at The Yard Soho, at a Spanish party called Lady Ole
every month, and at my event, Red Eye, for two years in different
venues across London. I also head back to Spain to play in Madrid and
Barcelona from time to time.
What’s a song that sums up the music at VAULT 139?
Anything pure techno, like Charles D, Adam Beyer, Pagano or Cosmic Boys.
Give us a record you’ve fallen in love with from the past year
ARTBAT & Vintage Culture’s She The Last One is a must for my sessions
at Vault139, I have been asked a few times to play it.
And what’s an oldie that never fails to please?
Another one that I still love so much is Hey Boy Hey Girl by The Chemical
Brothers. New remixes have been released that can go well with techno
or melodic techno.
Which artist do you turn to when a dance floor needs bringing to
life?
I usually play some of my own tunes that I know my people will recognise!
But mentioning someone else, I will say a group called Kream that
can always bring more energy to the dance floor. They have a more
progressive, tech house vibe that never fails.
When can we catch you DJing in the upcoming weeks?
You can catch me once a week at Vault139, check my Instagram for new
dates for June. Also, there’s Red Eye at The Shoreditch Club on Friday
6th June and I’m at The Yard in Soho every Friday between 18th July
and 8th August, plus Saturday 16th August. I’ve also got several gigs
lined up in Spain at the end of June and
the start of July for Madrid Pride.
