MUSIK
Written by Jonathan Harvey (the man behind cult film Beautiful
Thing) and soundtracked by the Pet Shop Boys (the band behind a
stupendously ridiculous number of hits), this one-woman show received
rave reviews when it premiered back in 2019, which is why it’s such great
news that it’s returning for a short run this month at the historic Wilton’s
Music Hall. Frances Barber reprises the role of Billie Trix, a drug-addled
rockstar who’s lived quite the life and rubbed shoulders with many of the
twentieth century’s leading lights.
Tuesday 14th to Saturday 25th October, Wilton’s Music Hall,
Graces Alley, E1 8JB. Nearest Station: Tower Gateway
Recon Fetish Cabaret
Fetish culture isn’t just dressing up and having non-stop sex in darkrooms.
Granted, there’s a lot of that, but that’s underselling the scene slightly, as
this semi-regular event at the RVT goes to show. This time around, The
Madame will be hosting an evening of deliciously dirty cabaret performed
by a cast of twisted and talented stars, ranging from circus and dance to
the genuinely unclassifiable. And you’re more than welcome, nay heartily
encouraged, to come fully geared up as well.
Thursday 30th October, 7pm-midnight, Royal Vauxhall Tavern,
372 Kennington Lane, SE11 5QY. Nearest Station: Vauxhall
