If you’re the sort of person who dreams up Halloween costumes while you’re

sunbathing on the beach or you live for the sort of grisly films that have most
hiding from the screen during the cinema trailers, there’s only one place you
should be this month and that’s Tulleys Farm Shocktober Fest.
For the past twenty-nine years, this family-owned farm not too far from
Crawley (or Creepy Crawley as it’s formally known during Halloween season)
has become a festival of all things frightening. Today, it’s the biggest scream park
in Europe, so why do so many flock down to this sedate corner of West Sussex?
Well, the main draw is the eleven Haunts — these are immersive
attractions, each with a fiendish backstory and a cast of ghoulish characters
sure to put the willies up you. Among them this year are plenty of returning fan
favourites, but a brand-new one in the shape of Glitch, an abandoned barn
home to a failed government experiment that’s gone a little chaotic.
As well as this, you’re treated to a wealth of live entertainment, be that
the CarnEvil Cabaret, the Wastelands Fire and Light Show, the nightly 10pm
Poker’s Party, or even the roaming band of street performers who are sneaking
Glitch

around to catch you unaware as you wander the site.
And whenever you want to catch your breath and get your heartbeat
down to a sensible number, you can hang out at the bars and street food stalls
(including a branch of Greggs like you’ve never seen before).
