Dance music royalty is heading to Vauxhall this
September as powerhouse vocalist Mary Kiani
takes over the Royal Vauxhall Tavern for an exclusive
London afternoon celebrating the launch of her new
album, Reimagined.
If you were anywhere near a dancefloor in the 1990s, there’s a very good
chance Mary’s voice provided part of the soundtrack. Best known for her
work with The Time Frequency before launching a successful solo career
with Mercury Records, she scored a run of UK Top 40 hits including When I
Call Your Name, Let The Music Play, I Imagine and 100%. Big vocals, euphoric
choruses and precisely the sort of records that still have the power to turn
respectable grown adults into teenagers after two drinks.
Now she’s bringing that unmistakable voice to one of London’s most iconic
LGBTQ+ venues for An Audience With Mary Kiani, a one-off event offering fans
the chance to get considerably closer than the usual nightclub dancefloor.
Mary will perform live tracks from Reimagined, which sees her revisit and
rework music from across her career, before sitting down for a special Q&A
hosted by DJ Ross Alexander. She’ll also be signing copies of the new album,
giving fans the chance to meet the woman behind some genuinely huge queer

dancefloor memories.
It promises to be part live show, part celebration and part very fabulous
nostalgia trip, while also marking the next chapter in a career that stretches back
more than three decades.
And, rather pleasingly, it all starts at 3pm. Dance classics, a few drinks and
home at a sensible hour? We’ve matured.
